At Hampton Junior School, we are very proud of the support that we provide children with Special Educational Needs and the progress they make.
Every child is unique and at Hampton Junior School we ensure this individuality is celebrated and supported. We ensure every child reaches their potential and are proud of their achievements.
Children with a talent for Music, Sport, Art and Drama are encouraged to fulfil their potential through our range of curricular and extra-curricular activities. High achieving children are challenged through differentiation within the classroom and thought-provoking tasks to extend their learning.
For some children, additional intervention is required to ensure they continue to make good progress throughout their academic journey. At Hampton Junior School, we identify these additional needs early and, working closely with parents, develop personalised plans to cater for these needs and requirements. OfSTED (2017) identified that as a result of high levels of staff care and support, children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) make good progress and achieve well. Staff’s knowledge with regards to Special Educational Needs is directly linked to in-depth training and subsequently results in children receiving high-quality support in lessons from all teaching staff. (OfSTED, 2017). At Hampton Junior School we are very proud of our highly supportive and knowledgeable teachers and Learning Support Assistants and OfSTED (2017) agreed, stating that staff are well deployed and provide effective support to individuals and groups of children.
As a school we have strong links with outside agencies such as: Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language and Occupational Therapists; using this knowledge and expertise to provide a well-rounded level of support for all our children. Working in this multi-professional way, enables your child to receive the best possible support and helps them to develop as independent, successful learners.
If you would like to discuss your child’s progress, then please speak to either their class teacher or Mrs Lisa Maxted, the Inclusion Manager, via the school office: office.hjs@hpp.school or on 020 8979 2545.
