Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined in ‘Keeping children safe in education –July 2016’ as: protecting children from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children’s health and development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

-
Include opportunities in the curriculum and assemblies for children to develop the skills they need to recognise and stay safe from abuse.
-
Ensure that there are clear procedures and training in place to keep children safe.
-
The school Safeguarding policy is reviewed annually and shared with all staff during training and induction. (see policy section on website).
-
The Designated Safeguarding Lead at Hampton Junior School is Mr Jon James. The Deputy Safeguarding Leads are Ms Helen Lockey, Mrs Anna Gale and Mrs Karen Finnegan.
