Safeguarding
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and at Hampton Junior School we ensure that your child’s safety is of paramount importance.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined in ‘Keeping children safe in education –July 2016’ as: protecting children from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children’s health and development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

To do this Hampton Junior School will:

Establish and maintain an environment where children feel secure, are encouraged to talk, and are listened to;

  • Ensure children know that there are adults in the school whom they can approach if they are worried;
  • Include opportunities in the curriculum and assemblies for children to develop the skills they need to recognise and stay safe from abuse.
  • Ensure that there are clear procedures and training in place to keep children safe.
  • The school Safeguarding policy is reviewed annually and shared with all staff during training and induction. (see policy section on website).
  • The Designated Safeguarding Lead at Hampton Junior School is Mr Jon James.  The Deputy Safeguarding Leads are Ms Helen Lockey, Mrs Anna Gale and Mrs Karen Finnegan.
  • The Designated Safeguarding governors are Emily Boswell and Polly Davies
